A winter weather advisory is in effect in the Wisconsin Rapids area from 7 p.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

Rain is expected to continue Thursday evening and then become mixed with freezing rain and sleet overnight. The mixed precipitation is expected to continue early Friday before increasing temperatures allow the precipitation to change back to rain.

Up to one-tenth of an inch of ice is possible Thursday night, along with reduced visibility and scattered slippery spots on roads that could cause difficult travel conditions, according to the advisory.

Motorists should be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility. Go to www.511wi.gov or call 511 for the up-to-date Wisconsin road conditions.
