River Alliance hosts paddling excursions on two Wild Rivers

Florence County is home to two state-designated Wild Rivers, the Pine and the Popple. The River Alliance of Wisconsin, a statewide nonprofit river conservation organization, is offering a one-day excursion on each of those rivers on May 11 and 12.

Leading the trips is John Roberts of Niagara, a veteran canoeist and avid student of both rivers.

"No one in Wisconsin appreciates these rivers like John," says River Alliance executive director Denny Caneff. "Geology, water quality, plants and animals, the human history - John truly knows these rivers." ...
