The Get Active Wood County team will host one of the state's five regional Active Community Environments workshops Wednesday at the Hotel Mead & Conference Center in Wisconsin Rapids. The initiatives are intended to promote increased opportunities for physical activity for residents throughout the community.

The workshop will include a keynote address by Wisconsin Rapids Mayor Zach Vruwink and presentations by the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, city of Marshfield, and Healthy Lifestyles Marshfield Area Coalition. The event is hosted by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services' Nutrition, Physical Activity & Obesity Program.

Cost for the event is $35/person or $25/person for teams of three or more. Participants can register at the door. Contact Kristie Rauter, Wood County Community Health Improvement Planner, at 715-421-8915 or krauter@co.wood.wi.us for more information.
