A cougar that was captured on a private landowner's trail camera on June 3, 2013 was recently confirmed by DNR biologists. Other unconfirmed cougar sightings were also reported locally from the same area.

Nick Jacobson reported the sighting to the DNR in June.

The DNR and Jacobson searched for tracks or scat but did not find any. Jacobson still checks for tracks whenever he visits the location.

Jacobson has spent a few weekends camping in a tent near the location since the photo was taken and plans to tent many more times before bow season begins this fall.
