Starting about now the male trout in our small streams are moving upstream to prepare for the fall spawn.

The fall brings on a change in many of our trout. Their colors become more bright to impress the female trout. The older trout develop pronounced "kypes." Their lower jaw takes on a hook-like appearance.

These trout are driven by mother nature. They are typically in out-of-place runs. They leave the safety of their year round haunts. Starting now and through the end of September is the absolute best time to catch a trout of a lifetime due to the spawn urge.
