Just because it is called a "dead zone" does not mean the bay's most polluted area is being buried and forgotten.

Experts say the newly identified zone - so badly polluted that it is uninhabitable for fish and other wildlife - can be restored and resurrected.

But reversing the damage from decades of abuse by industry, agriculture and other culprits could take 20 years or longer and could require a concerted regional effort at reducing water pollution. ...
