Noah LaBarge, 13, of Ottawa, Illinois caught something special on June 21, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.
LaBarge hauled in a 49.5-inch, 76.5 lbs. big mouth buffalo fish (Ictiobus cyprinellus), sometimes called a buffalo carp. The DNR aged the fish from one of its scales at 27 years old. The fish had a girth of 35 inches.
LaBarge was unable to get an official weight until noon the following day and the fish may have lost 4 to 5 pounds during that time. ...
