Heifetz named Walker's budget director

Nov. 18, 2013

MADISON — Michael Heifetz has been named as Gov. Scott Walker’s budget director.

Heifetz took over Monday for Brian Hayes who left the position last month to serve as Hearings and Appeals division administrator for the Department of Administration. Hayes had held the position since Walker took office in 2011.

Heifetz will oversee the budget department within the Department of Administration. Its main job is working with the governor on preparing and introducing the roughly $68 billion state budget every two years.

Heifetz worked as vice president of governmental affairs at Dean Clinic and SSM Health Care of Wisconsin for the past 11 years. Heifetz also worked five years as a policy adviser in the state Assembly and five years in the state budget office as a policy analyst.
