The combination of cold weather and difficult access conditions has continued to keep fishing pressure at a low level on area lakes. Ice depths have been holding in the 16- to 18-inch range, as the 8- to 12-inches of snow cover has been providing enough insulation to keep the ice thickness from getting too much deeper. But the heavy snow cover has severely limited access to most waters and many areas of slush have also been showing up. Most ice fishing access has been limited to a few plowed or packed trails.
