July 5 is going to be quite a day for live music fans in Milwaukee.

Summerfest will be in full swing — with an American Family Insurance Amphitheater act yet to be announced. And Ariana Grande will be at Fiserv Forum that night as part of her "Sweetener" tour.

And Dave Matthews Band will finally be back at Alpine Valley Music Theatre that day, kicking off a two-night stint at the East Troy amphitheater, the band announced Tuesday.

Over the past decade, Dave Matthews Band has performed at Alpine more than any other act. But the group hasn't played there since 2016, taking a break in 2017 and opting for a Summerfest show last year.

Now the band is returning to Alpine for the East Troy venue's busiest summer in years, just two years after operator Live Nation shut down the venue for a full season for the first time in its history, when they were unable to secure any acts.

Dave Matthews Band will be the first group to play at Alpine this year. From July 14 to 16, Phish will be there, for the jam band's first Alpine show since 2015. Then July 20, Jimmy Buffett will play Alpine, his first show there since 2016.

On Aug. 23, Hootie & the Blowfish will play Alpine as part of their reunion tour. And seminal classic rock band The Who, backed by a live symphony, will play Alpine Sept. 8, the band's first gig there since 1989.
