Ryan Gosling had a case of the giggles on 'SNL.'

Ryan Gosling, serious actor, couldn't help but giggle while he hosted Saturday Night Live this week. Yep, the Big Short star broke character (as many SNL performers do) in almost all of his sketches. Of course, it was charming. Let's review:

There was the time he couldn't hide his laughter while Aidy Bryant hit on him

In the Birthday Party sketch, Bryant plays a 12-year-old who hilariously and aggressively hits on Gosling, dad of another teen. At one point he gets cake on his finger, and Bryant sucks it off. Gosling isn't even close to keeping a straight face.

There was the time he couldn't keep it together when Kat McKinnon said anything

In this bit, Gosling is one of three people who are recalling their close encounters with aliens. When McKinnon starts describing her experience peeing in front of grey space creatures, Gosling (and the audience) just loses it, and can't ever find it again.

There was the time he cracked up at a shirtless Kyle Mooney

Gosling plays himself here, and he's visiting his hometown. Mooney, a childhood friend, tries to embarrass Gosling by making him sing and dance. This somehow leads to Mooney taking off his shirt and demanding Gosling do the same. But Gosling can't do it. He's too busy laughing.

There was the time he smirked with Mike Myers

In his opening monologue, fellow Canadian Myers joins Gosling onstage for a song. Gosling could barely get through it, because Myers kept making him smirk.

But then there was this solid Wiz spoof

Gosling played the Wizard of Oz Scarecrow who encounters the cast of The Wiz Live!. His dorky accent and cool dance moves were funny, no giggling required, in the video that showed the culture clash between the characters.

And this insane Santa short

In a pretaped short (which means little opportunity to break), Gosling and Vanessa Bayer are a couple who still believes in (and fantasizes about) Santa Claus. In this bit, Gosling and Bayer dance all American Hustle-like, use candy canes as weapons and make everyone uncomfortable. It's genius.
