Local Modern Woodmen members to plant trees
PORT EDWARDS – The local Modern Woodmen of America Chapter 8319 will gather at John Edwards High School in Port Edwards to plant trees and landscape the entrance to the Dorothy Alexander Auditorium, along with JEHS Ecology Club, as part of Modern Woodmen’s Plant A Tree Program.
Introduced by Modern Woodmen in 2004, the Plant A Tree program offers Modern Woodmen members the opportunity to beautify their communities by planting trees. Through the program and the help of its members, Modern Woodmen has planted thousands of trees across the United States.
“The Plant A Tree Program ties Modern Woodmen members to the roots of our organization,” says Curtis Langemeier, local Modern Woodmen contact. “Planting trees is an important way to create a secure future for families, communities and the environment,”
Coordinated by local Modern Woodmen members, chapters provide opportunities to take part in social activities and community service projects to meet local needs. Youth service clubs provide young Modern Woodmen members with opportunities to volunteer, be patriotic, learn new skills, make friends and have fun.
