Hinterland aims for February start in Titletown
ASHWAUBENON - Hinterland Brewing Co.'s new building in the Titletown District has windows and heat, just in time for the first arctic blast of the winter. By April, it should have customers, too.
Hinterland owner Bill Tressler said construction is on pace to allow them to begin brewing beer on site in February, leading to the public opening two months later. Installation of the company's new brewing tanks began Friday.
Hinterland is one of three announced tenants for the Packers' 35-acre Titletown District, which will include retail, commercial, residential and recreational elements. Other announced tenants are Lodge Kohler, a four-diamond hotel, and a Bellin Health sports medicine clinic, both of which are under construction. All expect to be open before the 2017 NFL season.
Lodge Kohler appears to have about half its windows installed. In addition, the Packers have begun work on the public park area of the district, which will include a sledding hill, skating pond, playgrounds and a regulation-size football field. The hill and pond could be open by Thanksgiving 2017, the Packers have said.
Last week workers began installing new 30-barrel brewing tanks for Hinterland.
"We'll have a 12,000-barrel capacity, but we can scale up to 25,000 or 30,000," Tressler said.
The new building on the corner of South Ridge Road and Lombardi Avenue is four times larger than Hinterland's 313 Dousman St. address. It will include a brewery, taproom, restaurant, two private dining rooms and a heated, outdoor beer garden.
The Packers expected to begin discussions with residential developers this month on their plan to build about 70 townhouses on the south side of the district along Brookwood Drive.
