GREEN BAY – While the Green Bay Packers pursue victory in Dallas, work continues at and around Lambeau Field.

With no more home games, workers this week began to dismantle the big, white Tundra Tailgate Zone tent in Lambeau Field's east parking lot. It will be replaced by the brick and steel Johnsonville Tailgate Village.

Meanwhile, in the Titletown District immediately west of Lambeau Field, the Bellin Health Sports Medicine & Orthopedics clinic has taken shape while work continues on Lodge Kohler hotel and Hinterland Brewing, which plans to begin operations in a little more than a month.

All are expected to open before the 2017 NFL season.

Preliminary work on Johnsonville Tailgate Village will begin immediately, said Aaron Popkey, Packers director of public affairs.

Like Tundra Tailgate Zone, Tailgate Village will be a venue for food and drink, live music, autograph signings and other activities on game days. It will be available the rest of the year, too, much like the Lambeau Field Atrium. On non-game days, it can be rented for meetings, conventions or other events.

The 30,000-square-foot building will include 13,242 square feet of event space. It will be 30 feet tall at the roof line with a slightly larger footprint than the tent it replaces. Also, it will have bars, a live music area, multiple large TVs, garage-style doors opening to a surrounding patio, air conditioning, heat and indoor bathrooms. It will include a full kitchen for event catering, underground storage and floor-to-ceiling glass walls.

Bellin’s facility will be geared toward injury prevention, performance improvement, and treatment and therapy for injuries. It will feature sports medicine and the offerings that complement it, such as sports nutrition and access to sports psychology. It will have the best diagnostic equipment available, including X-ray, lab and MRI.

The clinic will be staffed by longtime Packers team physician Dr. Patrick McKenzie, as well as Dr. Jim Ebben, Dr. James Spears, Dr. Gil Freeman and other sports medicine specialists. It will serve as a care location for Green Bay Packers players and the community at large.

The 110,000-square-foot Lodge Kohler will have 144 rooms on five floors, including 10 suites; a top-floor, panoramic bar, restaurant and cigar terrace; a full-service garden spa, six treatment rooms, three finishing stations; innovative water treatments, therapeutic massage, facial and body exfoliation and renewal. Also, an indoor/outdoor pool opening to a garden, a fitness facility and private courtyard. And a gift shop that sells the expected items and the unexpected, such as world champion cheeses, smoked salmon and Packers artifacts on consignment.

Hinterland Brewing will include a brewery, taproom, restaurant, two private dining rooms and a heated, outdoor beer garden. Brewing capacity will be 12,000 barrels annually, compared to 5,500 barrels now, and can scale up to more than 25,000.

Also related to Titletown District, the Packers recorded with the Brown County Register of Deeds the purchase of 1191-1193 Brookwood Drive. The Packers are buying land along Brookwood Drive for a row of townhouses that will be part of the Titletown District. Details on price and design have not been announced.
