NBC Sports reported the Oakland Raiders are expected to host the New England Patriots in Mexico City in 2017.
Green Bay Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy said the NFL would like his team to play in England as well, but the schedule has been difficult to arrange. The Packers will not give up a home game because of its impact on Green Bay, the smallest city in major professional sports, and other NFL teams are reluctant to give up home games against the Packers because they normally sell out.
Murphy said that the NFL can compel a team to play in London if it's playing in a temporary stadium. The recently moved Los Angeles Rams will play in a temporary home, the Los Angeles Coliseum, for the next two seasons while a permanent stadium is built. Based on the NFL's schedule formula, the Packers in 2018 will play at the Rams in their final season in the Coliseum, so that game might be the best possibility.
