GREEN BAY – Tickets prices for the Green Bay Packers-Oakland Raiders preseason game in Winnipeg, Manitoba, were reduced Friday.
The face price for end zone seats Friday was $71.63 in U.S. dollars, which comes closer to what the lowest prices were on the secondary market. Face price was $127 before the reduction.
The Raiders will host the Packers at 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at IG Field in Winnipeg.
On Ice Entertainment Ltd., the game's promoter, set the prices originally at $127 to $329 U.S., but on the secondary market the lowest-priced tickets ranged from $70 to $127.
Two media reports said ticket sales were lagging.
Meanwhile, tickets for the Packers regular-season opener Sept. 5 at Soldier Field in Chicago continue to experience high demand. The average lowest price based on a check of secondary market sellers was $353.
The Bears won the NFC North division in 2018. The Packers have a new head coach and Aaron Rodgers, one of the league's premier quarterbacks. Also, the Thursday night game will kick off the NFL's 100th season.
Prices for the Packers' home opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 15 were more reasonable, with the lowest price averaging $172.
That will be a big weekend in Green Bay. In addition to several events remembering Packers Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr, who died May 26, the Packers will host a free concert on Sept. 14 with country duo Big & Rich.
Country musician Eric Church will perform Sept. 13-14 at the Resch Center as well.
The Packers won their first preseason game under new head coach Matt LeFleur on Thursday, defeating the Houston Texans 28-26 at Lambeau Field. Rodgers and a number of other starters did not play.
