GREEN BAY – Early indications suggest demand will be huge for the Green Bay Packers game in London.

The Packers are scheduled to play the New York Giants on Oct. 9 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The Packers have a large fan base throughout Europe that impatiently waited 15 years for the chance to see them close to home.

Jan Bogaerts, who lives near Antwerp, Belgium, said there is "hysterical excitement" in Europe over the Packers going to London.

"I am draining my bank account to be able to be there," he said. "There will be tens of thousands of fellow European Cheeseheads wanting to come over to London. It should be an amazing atmosphere."

The Packers will play in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the home of the Premier League soccer team of the same name, for its London game during the 2022 season.

Are Packers tickets available for the London game?

Interest is high among U.S.-based fans as well. Event USA in Ashwaubenon, a tour and ticket provider, added 1,000 people to its waiting list in the first 24 hours, said president and CEO Dennis Garrity.

"We expect the demand to exceed the supply of spots available in due course," Garrity said.

Fans who want to receive the latest news about this year's NFL international games, including ticketing updates, should register at www.nfl.com/internationalgames. Tickets for games in Munich and London will be available to the general public in June.

The Packers will have a very limited number of tickets available for Packers season ticket holders to purchase through a drawing. The prices and seat locations of the tickets have not been determined.

The Packers ticket office will send a survey to Packers season ticket holders who opted in to receive promotional emails, inviting them to enter into the drawing for the opportunity to purchase tickets. Season ticket holders who did not receive the survey via email are reminded that they must opt in to receive such communications.

Season ticket holders can log in to their "My Packers Account" to receive promotional emails and to answer the international game ticket drawing survey online.

The Packers will play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The Packers will play in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the home of the Premier League soccer team of the same name.

The stadium is used primarily for soccer, or football, as opposed to American football. The stadium does not have a domed roof, but it does have a retractable field, or pitch. On top is a soccer field and below it a football field.

Tottenham has hosted four games since 2018, so changing pitches won't be a new process.

Seating capacity at the stadium is 62,850, which is about 18,000 seats fewer than Lambeau Field. Fair to say, selling out won't be a problem.

Packers Everywhere, Discover Green Bay planning events

If you're going to make the trip to London, you might want to do more than watch football. England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland are within easy reach for fans who want to stay longer than the weekend, and London is one of the world's great cities.

Or you could just spend the week learning how to say Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, a town in Wales.

The Packers are working up events for the week, too, including a Packers Everywhere pep rally, and Discover Green Bay, the convention and visitors bureau, also is working on events.

Stephen O'Brien, co-founder of the UK & Irish Packers Group, said there are no permanently dedicated Packers bars in London — the pubs don't work like that — but that might change for the time around the game.

"We’ll be going out and getting many different venues to make sure, if you can’t get into the game, that you’re surrounded by other Packers fans," O'Brien said.

Even UK fans who've been to NFL games before are looking forward to Packers week.

Michael Johnson of Leicester, England, has seen the Packers play at Lambeau Field and been to NFL games in London. He said he hopes to spend a full weekend in London when the Packers play.

"I’m sure there will be some pep rally events organized by the team and NFL UK, which will be really cool to go to, to meet a lot of people I’ve spoke to online before," he said.
