Stock the Shelves donations being accepted through Sunday
Stock the Shelves is USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin's biggest community fundraiser of the year, which aims to ensure families in area communities have food for the holidays.
APPLETON - As a reporter who covered schools in the Fox Cities, I occasionally wrote about the impact poverty has on children.
Children in need come to school with grumbling tummies, which makes it difficult for them to concentrate on their work.
For as wonderful as the Fox Cities are, hunger is an issue here. In fact, some schools offer free breakfast and lunch for all children because the need is so great.
That's where you come in.
We're down to the final days of the 2017 Stock the Shelves campaign, and I'm writing with the hope that you will help us make a difference for families in our community.
Donations are being accepted through Sunday, and Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin wants to say "thank you" in advance.
Individuals who contribute $1,000 or more and corporations who give $2,500 or more will have their name, a message and (for corporate donors) their logo imprinted on a brick on Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin's brick walkway, said Patti Habeck, president.
The brick walkway is outside the front entrance of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, 2911 W. Evergreen Dr., Appleton.
We know that not everyone is in a position to give $1,000. Whether you can give a little or a lot, please still consider a donation. Your contribution will benefit food pantries right here in the Fox Cities, which means it will help local families and people in need.
If you've already made a contribution, thank you. Your generosity has kept this campaign running strong for 22 years, and we appreciate it so much.
