GREEN BAY - Tight end Martellus Bennett is eager to get his first season with the Green Bay Packers underway.
After driving up from his Chicago home late Tuesday night and realizing that the dorm where he is supposed to be staying at St. Norbert College was locked, Bennett apparently made a beeline for Lambeau Field and found a spot to hunker down for the night.
That spot was in front of his locker in the Packers' locker room.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he was unaware of Bennett's overnight stay until being told about it.
"I was here late last night so he must've come after I left," McCarthy said. "I don't usually check lockers for people sleeping."
Bennett posted several short Stories on Instagram (we're omitting some NSFW language)
“Camp life. Day one.”
“Sleeping on the floor doesn’t bother me. I actually like sleeping on the floor from time to time.”
“I hope there aren’t any ghosts hiding with the Packers though ‘cause if there are some ghosts that are going to come out in this locker room I need to get out of here. I’m the only black person in this scary movie and you know the black guy has to die, so I have to recruit some other black guys.”
No word yet if the ghosts of Lombardi or Lambeau came visiting Bennett overnight.
