Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews warms up before their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, for which he was inactive, on Nov. 26, 2017, at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH - Outside linebacker Clay Matthews worked out on the Heinz Field turf several hours before the game Sunday, but he is inactive for the Green Bay Packers' meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Matthews was listed as questionable with a groin injury and said during the week that he would be given up to game time to prove he was able to play. He said the medical staff was going to be cautious because of the possibility of the injury becoming worse and it appears they felt he was still in danger of making things worse.

Kyler Fackrell, who is coming off his best game as a pro last week against Baltimore, is expected to start for Matthews with veteran Ahmad Brooks also chipping in. Rookies Vince Biegel and Chris Odom are both also available to play outside linebacker.

There were no surprises on the Packers' inactive list. Running backs Aaron Jones (knee) and Ty Montgomery (ribs) are both inactive for a second straight week and nose tackle Kenny Clark (ankle) is out after being listed as doubtful on the injury report.

The Packers' inactives are:

  • OLB Clay Matthews
  • RB Aaron Jones
  • RB Ty Montgomery
  • NT Kenny Clark
  • OG Lucas Patrick
  • OL Adam Pankey
  • CB Donatello Brown

The Steelers will be without rookie wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was ruled out during the week because of a hamstring injury.

The Steelers' inactives are:

  • QB Joshua Dobbs
  • WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
  • CB Joe Haden
  • OT Matt Feiler
  • TE Vance McDonald
  • LB James Harrison
  • DT Daniel McCullers
