The NFL Draft hasn't been kind to Florida State in recent years.

The Seminoles have had three players selected in the last two drafts - running back Cam Akers was FSU's lone player taken last year, going to the Los Angeles Rams in the second round with the 52nd overall pick.

However, this year's draft could see the most FSU players in NFL Draft selected since 2015, when 11 players were picked.

3:50 p.m. Nasirildeen finally comes off the board

After days of waiting, Hamsah Nasirildeen finally gets selected in the 2021 NFL Draft. Nasirildeen gets selected by the New York Jets in the sixth round, 186 overall. Last season, Nasirildeen only played in two games as he was recovering from a knee injury. In those two games, Nasirildeen recorded 13 tackles, 1.5 for loss, one interception. This could potentially be a steal for the Jets down the line.

1:55 p.m.  Kaindoh goes to Chiefs

After Robinson was selected, it didn't take long for the next FSU player to come off the board. Joshua Kaindoh was selected by the Chiefs with the last pick of the fourth round (144 overall). Kaindoh is a tall, athletic player with serious pop. Just isn't overly active on the defensive line and he never lived up to expectations in college.

1:36 p.m., Saturday, May 1, Vikings selected Robinson in fourth round

Late in the fourth round, the Minnesota Vikings select defensive end Janarius Robinson. During his time at FSU, Robinson registered 104 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, and eight sacks. Robinson is a long, athletic defensive lineman that can line up on the outside as well as at defensive tackle.  He is exactly the type of player the Vikings could use.

 8:16 p.m. Chargers draft Samuel

At pick No. 47 overall, the Los Angeles Chargers selected Asante Samuel Jr. Last season, Samuel started all eight games before he opted out in which he appeared and recorded 31 tackles, including 1.0 for loss, three interceptions, six pass breakups, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

12:03 A.M. BUCS CLOSE OUT FIRST ROUND

The Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected defensive end Joe Tyron of Washington with the final pick (32nd overall) of the first round.

It marked the second consecutive draft that FSU failed to have a player selected in the opening round.

Brian Burns has honors as the last Seminole taken in the opening round. The defensive end was the 16th overall selection by the Carolina Panthers in 2019.

Cornerback Asante Samuel, Jr. is expected to be taken off the draft board Friday. Six cornerbacks were selected in Thursday's first round.

10:15 p.m. ACC Draft history

The ACC had a record 12 players selected in the first round in 2005. FSU players on that list included defensive lineman Travis Johnson at No. 16 (Texans) and offensive lineman Alex Barron at No. 19 (Rams).

While the ACC won't come close to a dozen in the 2021 NFL Draft, Draftkings.com predicts half that number. In addition to Clemson's Trevor Lawrence going No. 1 overall to the Jaguars, other ACC players who could go include:

Miami DE Jaelan Phillips, Virginia Tech OL Christian Darrisaw, Clemson RB Travis Etienne, Virginia Tech DB Caleb Farley, DE Gregory Rousseau, Florida State DB Asante Samuel Jr., and Notre Dame LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah all have a chance to go in the first round.

8:27 p.m. |  Jaguars select Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with No. 1 overall pick

Urban Meyer and general manager Trent Baalke made the Jaguars' most pivotal draft selection in their history official on Thursday night.

At last, they got their franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence, a generational talent, with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. Since the Jaguars clinched the No. 1 pick in December after finishing with the worst record in the league at 1-15, there was no doubt that Lawrence would be their choice.

Lawrence, who went 34-2 in three years as a starter at Clemson, is widely considered the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck was taken No. 1 overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. – The Florida Times-Union

FSU fans missed out on their final opportunity last season to watch Lawrence when the pandemic wiped out the Clemson-FSU game at Doak Campbell Stadium last November. It was also the expected return of Lawrence, who had missed the Tigers’ previous two games battling COVID-19

In Lawrence’s last appearance against FSU in 2019, he competed 17 of 25 passes for 170 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers’ 45-14 win at Clemson on Oct. 12. He also added 40 rushing yards.
