Patrick Surtain II is the son of former NFL player Patrick Surtain
Patrick Surtain Sr. played cornerback in the NFL from 1998-2008. He played for the Miami Dolphins from 1998-2004 and then played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2005-08.
Surtain was chosen for the Pro Bowl in 2002, 2003, and 2004, and he was first-team All-Pro in 2002.
The Miami Dolphins selected Surtain 44th overall in the 1998 NFL Draft after his college career at Southern Mississippi. Surtain played defensive back at Southern Miss from 1994-97, and he was the 1997 Conference USA Player of the Year.

As a sophomore in 2019-20, Surtain played 13 games, and he recorded 42 tackles and two interceptions with three forced fumbles and one recovered fumble.
During his freshman season in 2018-19, Surtain played all 15 games and started 12 games. He accrues 37 tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble.

In high school, ESPN clocked Patrick Surtain II with a 40-yard dash time of 4.57 seconds.
It also recorded him with a time of 4.44 seconds for the 20-yard shuttle run and a 35-inch vertical jump.
In the Class of 2018, ESPN ranked Surtain II the No. 5 player in the country and the No. 2 player in Florida, according to Alabama.
Patrick Surtain II won 3 high school football state titles
The American Heritage football team won three state titles during Patrick Surtain II's high school career. The team won a state title in 2014 when Surtain was a freshman then won in 2016 and 2017 to close out Surtain's high school career.
In 2017, American Heritage completed a 13-0 season with a 44-15 win against Baker County in the Class 5A state title game.
“You always want to go out on top,” American Heritage coach Patrick Surtain Sr. said to the South Florida Sun Sentinel after the win. “I’m really proud of those guys. The leadership they’ve shown and how they grew up as young men.”
