Pro Bowl rosters: Ravens tie NFL record with 12 selections
With their eyes still on a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs, the Baltimore Ravens were honored with another distinction on Tuesday.
The Ravens led the NFL with 12 selections to the Pro Bowl, tied for the most ever in the initial roster release, including quarterback and MVP contender Lamar Jackson. The second-year passer had the most fan votes of any player, followed by Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, both of whom were also chosen.
Baltimore's other representatives were offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, offensive guard Marshal Yanda, tight end Mark Andrews, running back Mark Ingram, fullback Patrick Ricard, outside linebacker Matt Judon, cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Marlon Humphrey, safety Earl Thomas, kicker Justin Tucker and long snapper Morgan Cox.
The New York Giants and Miami Dolphins were the only two teams not to have a player chosen.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was not selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2008, when a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in the season opener ruled him out for the remainder of the season. Brady remains in a tie with Peyton Manning, Tony Gonzalez, Bruce Matthews and Merlin Olsen for the most career Pro Bowl selections with 14.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who earned his 13th berth, is second among all active players.
San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa was among the rookies honored in their inaugural pro seasons.
The Pro Bowl will be held Jan. 26 in Orlando, Florida. Replacements will be announced at a later date for players who will participate in the Super Bowl, are dealing with injuries or otherwise opt out.
