Dolphins adding ex-Rams running back Malcolm Brown, who averages 4.0 yards per carry
The Dolphins added depth at running back Tuesday by coming to terms with Malcolm Brown, who averaged 4.0 yards per carry over six seasons with the Rams, a league source said.
Brown, 27, had 101 carries for 419 yards (4.1 average) and five touchdowns last season for Los Angeles. He also had 23 receptions for 162 yards (7.0).
Brown, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Texas, has six-year career totals of 298 rushes for 1,188 yards and 11 touchdowns while often backing up Todd Gurley.
Brown is 5-feet-11 and 222 pounds.
Brown nearly left the Rams two years ago. The Detroit Lions signed him to an offer sheet but the Rams retained him on a two-year deal worth $3.25 million.
Brown ran 10 times for 40 yards and caught two passes for 17 in the Rams’ 28-17 loss to the Dolphins in November.
