Arizona Cardinals releasing kicker Zane Gonzalez, per report
The Arizona Cardinals releasing kicker Zane Gonzalez, according to a report from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Gonzalez, 25, finished the season on injured reserve for a back injury.
"...There's still a chance he could be back in Arizona," Garafolo tweeted. "Long story short: He was slated to be a free agent anyway. It's a procedural move because they put him on (injured reserve)."

Gonzalez was placed on IR on Dec. 19. Prior to that, he made 16 of 22 field goals in 2020. While his misses were heavily criticized, coming in tight games, coach Kliff Kingsbury expressed support in Gonzalez at his end-of-season press conference.
"As far as the kicker, we’ve said all along we like Zane (Gonzalez), have a lot of faith in Zane and we’re still evaluating all things moving forward," Kingsbury said in January.
