On to ... the 2019 NFL season.

With the 2018 Detroit Lions finishing a bitter 6-10 after a 31-0 win over the Green Bay Packers, it's time to look ahead to Year 2 of the Matt Patricia era.

The NFL season will start Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, with the Detroit Lions likely opening on Sept. 8. The actual schedule will be announced sometime in the spring, but we do know who the Lions will be playing, and where.

They’ll have the usual six NFC North games, and will play the entire NFC East. And because the Lions finished last in their division, they will play the last-place teams in the NFC South and NFC West. In the conference crossover matchups, the Lions will play the AFC West division.

That works out to six games against 2018-19 playoff teams, plus four games against teams picking ahead of them in the 2019 draft.

Bears, Packers, Vikings, Cowboys, Giants, Buccaneers, Chiefs, Chargers

Bears, Packers, Vikings, Washington, Eagles, Cardinals, Broncos, Raiders

Of course, next on the franchise's agenda is the 2019 NFL draft April 25-27, where the Lions hold the No. 8 overall pick.
