Things get 'physical' vs. Schwartz's defense

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Packers' history with Bills defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz might have lent to some bad blood between the teams.

Schwartz coached the Detroit Lions from 2009 through last year, so the Packers faced his team 10 times. Those Lions teams had a reputation for mirroring Schwartz's volatile temperament.

On Sunday, the Packers appeared especially upset when a Bills defensive lineman knocked right tackle Bryan Bulaga out of the game with a concussion on a block after an interception. Buffalo wasn't penalized on the play, though it could be reviewed for a possible fine if the NFL determines it was a blindside block on a defenseless player.

"I mean, maybe I can elaborate a little more (Monday) after I see the play (on video)," right guard T.J. Lang said. "But it sounded like it was an unnecessary hit to take. Hope he's all right."

The teams also got into a scrum after running back Eddie Lacy's 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

"Some shoves going on there, obviously it was a physical game the whole way," Lang said. "It's something we kind of expected out of them, being a Jim Schwartz defense, some extracurricular stuff. It's just the way the game plays out. There's always a couple plays where a guy's not going to like what happened to him, you get some shoves and punches. But nothing over the top, there weren't any ejections or anything, just a physical game."
