Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy looks on during Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.

The Green Bay Packers' preseason opponents finally are set.

The NFL announced Thursday that the Packers will host Cleveland (Aug. 11-15) and Oakland (Aug. 18-22) and travel to San Francisco (Aug. 25-28) between their opener against Indianapolis on Aug. 7 and finale in Kansas City (Sept. 1-2).

The exact dates and times for the final four preseason games are to be determined.

The Packers are playing five preseason games this year because they were chosen to play in the Pro Football Hall of Fame game against the Colts the night after Brett Favre’s induction ceremony. It's the Packers' only preseason game that will be nationally televised and the fifth time in six years Green Bay will open the preseason away from Lambeau Field.

Green Bay will get a chance to see new Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III and former Packers cornerback Tramon Williams when it hosts Cleveland. It will be the teams' first preseason encounter since they met each year from 2009-12. The Packers will host the Raiders the following week, marking only the fourth time Oakland has played a preseason game in Green Bay (2014, 1998, 1971).

They will finish the preseason on the road, traveling to San Francisco for the first time during the preseason since 2008 and then meeting the Chiefs for the sixth time in the last seven preseasons.

At the NFL owners meetings, Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said the organization requested to play its preseason finale on the road because of the University of Wisconsin’s game against LSU on Sept. 3 at Lambeau Field.

While the Packers don't know the exact dates of their preseason games, the outline should give coach Mike McCarthy a better idea of how he wants to map out his training camp schedule. Also at the owners meetings, McCarthy said he wouldn’t lock anything in until the preseason was sorted out.

“Until we get the preseason games set, it will factor how it’s going to flow,” McCarthy said. “But as far as the starting date, we’ve got a pretty good idea, and how we’re going to play the first two games, and then games three and four, and then five. We talked about it as a staff, but if we get a national game also, that will affect the way the camp unfolds.”
