Damarious Randall questionable vs. Giants

GREEN BAY – Damarious Randall doesn’t know how he injured his groin, or even when it happened. Can’t pick out a play in practice. Or even the day.

At some point within the past week, his groin started barking. On Friday’s injury report, the Green Bay Packers' second-year cornerback was listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game against the New York Giants.

Randall reiterated multiple times he doesn’t know much about his own injury. The lack of information doesn’t help him cope.

“Obviously, if you had an injury,” Randall said, “and you didn’t know when or where it happened, would it be frustrating? I mean, of course. Just trying to get prepared for the game on Sunday.”

Because of the league’s new injury-report policy that no longer considers players who are “probable” to play, it’s impossible to know how likely Randall is to be available Sunday night. Randall said “don’t know” when asked if he’ll play against the Giants, but added that he’s preparing to play.

The Packers' secondary will be without top cornerback Sam Shields for a third straight game after he sustained a concussion in the opener at Jacksonville. Tight end Jared Cook will miss his first game with a high-ankle sprain he suffered two weeks ago against Detroit.

Randall has been limited in practice all week. He said there have been few opportunities to test his injury.

“I haven’t really done much,” Randall said. “So they’re just taking it slow.”
