Lacy, Randall active; Bryant, Rollins out
GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers will have starting running back Eddie Lacy and starting Damarious Randall when they take on the Dallas Cowboys Sunday afternoon.
They won't have CB Quinten Rollins (groin) and running back James Starks (knee), however.
Had Randall not been able to play, the Packers wouldn't have any of their top three cornerbacks because Sam Shields will miss a fifth consecutive game because of a concussion. However, Randall, who missed the Giants game with a groin injury, was deemed ready to play despite during hardly anything in practice during the week.
LaDarius Gunter will start opposite Randall and Micah Hyde will be the nickel back. Last week, the Packers used S Morgan Burnett as the dime back, but they will have the option of using Demetri Goodson, who was activated off the suspended list.
Also, active for the Packers is DE Mike Pennel, who like Goodson was activated from the suspended list.
Lacy will try to play through a sprained left ankle he suffered last week against the Giants. He practiced on a very limited basis during the week with a heavily taped ankle. Starks was ruled out on Saturday after missing the entire week of practice because of a knee injury and a death in the family.
The Packers have used both Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery as running backs in their offense. Montgomery has practiced there a considerable amount and Cobb has plenty of experience playing in the backfield. However, if Lacy drops out because of the ankle injury, the Packers will be a mostly one-dimensional team since neither of the two receivers can be considered a workhorse running back.
Here are the Packers' inactives:
- CB Quinten Rollins
- S Chris Banjo
- CB Sam Shields
- RB James Starks
- OT Kyle Murphy
- TE Jared Cook
- DT Christian Ringo
The Cowboys will be without wide receiver Dez Bryant for a third consecutive week due to a knee fracture. Bryant practiced on a limited basis this week, but the Cowboys, who have a bye next week, are holding off on putting him back on the field.
Brice Butler starts for Bryant.
Here are the Cowboys' inactives:
- QB Tony Romo
- RB Lance Dunbar
- CB Orlando Scandrick
- RB Darius Jackson
- LB Kyle Wilber
- OT Chaz Green
- WR Dez Bryant
