GREEN BAY - Running back Knile Davis wasn't the only new face at practice Tuesday for the Green Bay Packers.

Center Corey Linsley, who was the starter last season, took the field for the first time since mid-May, when he first injured the hamstring that has bothered him ever since. Linsley missed almost all of OTAs and minicamp and did not participate in training camp.

Linsley was placed on the PUP list at the start of camp after a setback in his recovery. He remained on PUP through the start of the regular season, and at that point he had to wait a minimum of six weeks before returning to practice.

"It was the conservative approach to begin with, putting me on PUP, but I appreciate Ted (Thompson) and coach (Mike) McCarthy and everybody for taking the conservative approach rather than rushing me back," Linsley said. "It looks like it’s paid off."

Linsley took part in a few drills during the portion of practice open to the media. He said his first workout felt great and he believes he is ready to return if and when the Packers need him.

The Packers have three weeks to monitor Linsley during practice before making a decision on whether to activate him. Despite Linsley's improved health, there's no guarantee Thompson incorporates him into the roster this season. He may not want to release anyone to create a roster spot for Linsley.

"It’s up to them," Linsley said. "It’s more than just me being healthy. It’s all the roster stuff. I’m ready whenever."

The team's starting center, JC Tretter, has played well during the first five games of the season. The offensive line as a whole has been a strong point for an offense that has, in large part, been fairly unproductive.

"You want to watch your team succeed, no matter what," Linsley said. "I think we’re on a great path. We hit a bump in the road, but I think this team is headed in the right direction."

Injury report

WR Jared Abbrederis (quadricep), T Bryan Bulaga (back) and WR Randall Cobb (back) were limited participants in Tuesday’s practice.

WR Davante Adams (concussion) and S Chris Banjo (hamstring) did not participate.

For as unhealthy as the Packers appear, the Bears are just as banged up.

DB Bryce Callahan (hamstring), QB Jay Cutler (right thumb), DL Eddie Goldman (ankle), DB Deiondre’ Hall (ankle), RB Jeremy Langford (ankle), CB Tracy Porter (knee), WR Eddie Royal (toe) and OL Josh Sitton (ankle) all did not practice Tuesday.

Sitton was the starting left guard for the Packers until general manager Ted Thompson released him in a shocking move on cutdown day. Despite the injury, Sitton wants to be on the field in order to face his former team, according to a source.

LB Sam Acho also did not practice but his absence wasn’t injury related.

RB Ka’Deem Carey (hamstring), OLB Leonard Floyd (calf), LB Jerrell Freeman (wrist) and TE Zach Miller (ribs) were limited participants.
