Welcome to your Morning Buzz, rounding up news and views regarding the Green Bay Packers from around the web and here at PackersNews.com. Grab a cup of coffee (or brew some tea, if that’s your thing) and get caught up on everything you need to know about the Packers.

The Packers are in seemingly deep trouble at the running back position with Ryan Wood reporting overnight that injured reserve is a possibility for Eddie Lacy.

Writes Wood:

If Lacy’s injury is expected to last longer than a few weeks, he could be placed on injured reserve. Lacy would be able to return after eight weeks. His move to IR would open a roster spot for running back Don Jackson to be promoted from the practice squad, though it’s uncertain when a determination will be made.

Tom Silverstein gives us the backstory of how Lacy’s status led to the trade for Knile Davis.

The other big injury news for the Packers is the placing of Sam Shields on injured reserve. Tom and Michael Cohen have all the latest on the team putting their No. 1 cornerback on the shelf.

Despite the injuries that are piling up, the Packers have a game to play Thursday night when they host the Chicago Bears in Lambeau Field. Bob McGinn gives his weekly scouting report.

From McGinn:

Despite wholesale injuries on defense the Bears have remained competitive, allowing no more than 31 points in a game and yielding more than 400 yards only once.

“This isn’t a stellar collection of talent but they play well together,” one personnel man said. “They have played tough and aren’t giving up big plays.”

Fangio, a close friend of Green Bay’s Dom Capers, will be coordinating his seventh game against Rodgers. He was 4-0 for San Francisco in 2012 and ’13, and is 1-1 for the Bears.

Eric Baranczyk and Pete Dougherty looked at the tape of the loss to the Cowboys and came away thinking that while the Packers’ run defense may have been manhandled, it doesn’t necessarily mean they were exposed.
