GREEN BAY – Clay Matthews was one of six players listed as questionable Friday on the Green Bay Packers injury report for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Matthews was listed as questionable because of a shoulder injury he played through last week against the Houston Texans. Coach Mike McCarthy said his Pro Bowl linebacker is “getting better” with his shoulder.
“He’s making progress,” McCarthy said. “He’s just working on his strength. He’s getting better. He did all the individual stuff, hit the sled, did all the things just to get better. He’s improving.”
He was joined by cornerback LaDarius Gunter (illness), guard T.J. Lang (foot), linebacker Blake Martinez (knee), cornerback Damarious Randall (groin, illness) and center J.C. Tretter (knee).
Outside linebacker Nick Perry (hand) and outside linebacker Kyler Fackrell (hamstring) were ruled out.
Lang and Tretter were somewhat surprisingly listed as questionable. Both returned to the practice field this week, but were expected to be long shots for Sunday’s game.
“This would be a good week to play,” Lang said Wednesday, hinting at the Packers' rivalry with the Seahawks. “Big game, obviously. Just see where I am (Thursday). I’m sure I’ll have some soreness, try to work through it, see how it feels. Do my best to negotiate it. I’ve been feeling the past couple weeks with the trainers and with doc about doing a little bit more. Maybe I can finally wear them out.”
The Packers did not practice Friday. On their injury report, they estimated quarterback Aaron Rodgers (hamstring) and inside linebacker Jake Ryan (ankle) would have been limited participants. Neither was listed on their status report, signaling they are scheduled to play.
Outside linebacker Julius Peppers (not injury related) and defensive tackle Letroy Guion (shoulder) were estimated to be full participants. Peppers was given Wednesday off for rest, only the second time in his three years with the Packers he hasn’t practiced, before being limited Thursday.
