Vince Biegel becomes eighth Packers pick to sign

GREEN BAY - Vince Biegel, whose introduction to the Green Bay Packers has been interrupted by foot surgery, became the eighth pick of the team’s 2017 draft to sign a contract Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound outside linebacker has been sidelined since the end of rookie orientation after undergoing surgery to repair a Jones fracture, a break of the fifth metatarsal, the long bone on the outside of the foot.  The same kind of injury caused Biegel to miss two games last season at Wisconsin. The fourth-round draft pick is expected to be back in time for training camp in late July.

Biegel also sustained what Packers coach Mike McCarthy described as a “minor” hand injury during his first practice at rookie orientation.

Only two Packers draft picks remain unsigned: third-round defensive lineman Montravius Adams and fourth-round running back Jamaal Williams.

Previously, the Packers announced the signing of their two second-round picks, cornerback Kevin King and safety Josh Jones; wide receiver DeAngelo Yancey and running back Aaron Jones, both fifth-round selections; sixth-round guard Kofi Amichia and their two seventh-round picks, running back Devante Mays and wide receiver Malachi Dupre.
