GREEN BAY - Newly acquired outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks was joined on the practice field Thursday by defensive lineman and former San Francisco 49ers teammate Quinton Dial, two days after Dial signed a one-year deal with the Packers.

The two former 49ers did not plot to land together with the Packers after their release from San Francisco, but they both felt the fit was good in Green Bay.

“He called me Saturday night when I got released and asked me what are some of the teams that were looking because he had heard Green Bay was looking at me,” Dial said. “And it kind of went from there. I always loved playing with Ahmad.”

Dial said he can play anywhere on the defensive line in the Packers’ 3-4 and would do whatever they asked of him.

“I’m just a team guy,” Dial said. “I’m going to do whatever I can to help your team win. So whether it’s playing five, four, three, nose, it doesn’t matter.”
