Al Carmichael

The Packers’ number one choice in 1953 from the University of Southern California, Al Carmichael led the Packers in kickoff returns for five seasons and was the punt return leader four times. The star of the 1953 Rose Bowl, the 6’1”, 190-pound Carmichael was a special teams standout from 1953-’58.
Carmichael returned kickoffs for 100 yards or more twice in his Packer career. In 1956, he set an NFL record with 927 yards on kickoff returns including a 106-yard kickoff return against the Chicago Bears. Carmichael rushed for more than 700 yards as a Packer.
