Bob Mann

In 1949, the leading Packer receiver caught 25 passes. In 1950, former Lion Bob Mann improved Green Bay’s anemic passing game. A receiving threat from 1950-’53, he averaged almost 15 yards per catch.

A University of Michigan star, the 5’11”, 175-pound Mann was an immediate hit in 1948 and ‘49 with the Detroit Lions. He was their leading receiver in 1949. Mann became the first African American to play for the Packers in the regular season.

He led the Packer receivers with 50 catches in 1951. Mann scored 17 touchdowns but his career was cut short by a knee injury in 1954.
