Inducted 1978

Boyd Dowler’s height and sprinter speed made him a constant threat to score a touchdown or make a long gain over 11 seasons as a Packer.

A number three draft choice in 1959, Dowler made an immediate impact. The former University of Colorado Buffalo star led the Packers in receptions his rookie season and in six other seasons.

The Packers punter in 1961 and ‘62, Dowler carried a 42.9-yard average. The 6’5”, 225-pound Dowler caught 448 passes for 6,918 yards and 40 touchdowns as a Packer. He caught 30 passes for 440 yards and five touchdowns in 10 post-season games with the Packers.

Dowler later became an assistant coach for several NFL teams.
