Packers Morning Buzz: Rashan Gary one of 'most questionable' picks

Welcome to your Morning Buzz, rounding up news and views regarding the Green Bay Packers from around the web and here at PackersNews.com.
We'll start of course with the aftermath of Day 1 of the NFL draft. The Packers already are taking some heat for their pick of Michigan's Rashan Gary at No. 12. Lorenzo Reyes of USA Today lists Gary as one of the draft's five most questionable picks.
Reyes writes:
This is one of those draft picks that was made more because of potential than production or need. Gary has that size-speed-strength trinity general managers always seek. And eventually, he could blossom into a dangerous pass rusher. But for that to happen, he’ll need to refine his techniques to beat offensive linemen in the NFL. The good news is that Green Bay signed Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith in free agency, so there’s no real urgency for Gary to step in and produce right away. But for a team with quite a few holes, No. 12 may have been a bit early for a project.

Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com ranks first-round "winners and losers" and puts Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine in the plus category:
Mike Pettine, Packers defensive coordinator: GM Brian Gutekunst just can't stop building up the Green Bay defense. He piled up picks for Pettine during last year's draft, spent huge money to sign three starters in free agency, including two high-priced pass rushers (Za'Darius Smith and Preston Smith), and then drafted another edge defender in Michigan's Rashan Gary with the No. 12 overall pick. (Just don't tell NFL.com's Gil Brandt it was a smart pick.)
