Packers Morning Buzz: Bad night for Blake Martinez, run defense

Welcome to your Morning Buzz, rounding up news and views regarding the Green Bay Packers from around the web and here at PackersNews.com.
We'll start with Eric Baranczyk and Pete Dougherty writing in their weekly game video review analysis about the Packers' poor run defense in Thursday's 34-27 loss to the Eagles. They cite inside linebacker Blake Martinez as a major culprit and point out how much injured linebacker Oren Burks is missed.
Eric and Pete write:
Though Martinez had 15 tackles, he did not play well. He had a handful of plays in which he tried to be aggressive but filled the wrong gap, which was emblematic of the Packers’ lack of gap consciousness overall. He also had a clean shot but slid off the tackle on Jordan Howard’s one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. ...
The Packers’ run defense also misses Burks, who’s still out with a torn pectoral sustained in training camp. Without him, their second inside linebacker has been either a safety (Raven Greene before he broke his ankle in Week 2; Amos since) or recently acquired B.J. Goodson. ...
Burks (233 pounds) would provide a bigger body than Amos to play the run and can match up better than Goodson with tight ends in coverage. It’s unclear when Burks will be back, though he has started taking part in at least some drills in practice.
