The Green Bay Packers' bold move to trade up in the first round of the NFL draft to select quarterback Jordan Love has divided the fan base.

Was it the right time to bring in Aaron Rodgers' heir apparent? Or would a first-round pick have been better spent on a player who could improve the team immediately?

Celebrity Packers fan Lil Wayne didn't wade into that debate on Thursday night. Instead, the rapper gave Love a heartfelt welcome to the team in a video, saying "Congratulations, you're a cheesehead for real."

Lil Wayne clearly has done some research about the quarterback, saying that he knows Love's "father is smiling down right now." Love's dad died by suicide in 2013.

The rapper shot the video in front of his stash of Packers memorabilia, including a Lambeau Field sign and what inexplicably appears to be a Furby.

Lil Wayne did not completely ignore the elephant in the room. At the end of the video, he holds up a photo of Rodgers celebrating the Super Bowl XLV victory

"I can't wait to see you like this," he said excitedly.

Lil Wayne grew up in New Orleans, but became a Packers fan when his father brought home some Packers swag from the 1997 Super Bowl in the city. The team has given him gifts before and Lil Wayne led the Lambeau Field crowd in a rendition of "Roll Out the Barrel" during last season's playoffs.
