Aaron Rodgers teams up with 'SNL's' Colin Jost for new IZOD commercial
Aaron Rodgers has a fashionable new receiver this season: “Saturday Night Live" cast member Colin Jost.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback teams up with the “SNL” head writer and co-anchor of “Weekend Update” in a new ad for IZOD's fall/holiday collection that debuted Wednesday.
Jost wrote the spot, which pokes fun at some of the more cliched moments in menswear advertising. Jost is the “handsome smarty-pants” and Rodgers in the “obligatory MVP cameo” for a backyard pick-up football game with models. Rodgers then shows up as the DJ for a special effects-driven ping pong moment at a party.
“Is Aaron Rodgers following me around?” Jost wonders.
It’s the latest project that shows off Rodgers’ comedic timing (and perhaps gets him a step closer to someday hosting “SNL”). At the ESPYs in July, Rodgers starred alongside girlfriend Danica Patrick in a 3-minute spoof of the “I, Tonya” biopic about former figure skater Tonya Harding.
“I really liked the concept of the spot and had a blast shooting with IZOD,” Rodgers said in a news release. “I know fans will appreciate the humor Colin and I brought to the field, and may even be surprised by my lesser-known ‘off-the-field talents’ shown in these spots.”
