Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari surprises his girlfriend with a marriage proposal on the water
It might be the best little movie you see all summer — action, romance, a well-known leading man, a great soundtrack and a very happy ending.
Green Bay Packers offensive tackle David Bakhtiari shared a 6-minute video over the Fourth of July weekend that shows him surprising girlfriend Frankie Shebby with a marriage proposal.
The two were on a boat when Bakhtiari popped the question on July 2. "She has no idea," reads a caption early on in the video, the two of them racing across the water to the theme from "Mission: Impossible" as Bakhtiari looks into the camera that Shebby doesn't know is on board.
He later stops the boat and asks her to get up. "Are we dancing?" she asks, less than enthusiastically. When he gets down on one knee (Ray LaMontagne's "Highway to the Sun" playing for the produced video), there were tears, cheers from well-wishers waiting on shore and Shebby repeatedly saying, "I'm in shock."
Warning: The video contains potentially offensive language.
She shared photos the next day on her Instagram of the ring and the couple toasting the engagement on land with a celebration.
Bakhtiari, 28, and Shebby, 24, who played volleyball at the University of Oregon and the University of Colorado, have been dating since October 2017. They've shared photos on their Instagram accounts of time spent together in Australia, Universal Studios in California, Milwaukee Bucks games, Terror on the Fox haunted house in Ashwaubenon and, more recently, masking up to go grocery shopping.
Variety reported in March that Bakhtiari bought a $3.9 million estate on a hilltop in the San Fernando Valley of California. The six-bedroom mansion is 6,400 square feet and has a 24-foot tall entryway and home theater. Outside there are covered patios, a sunken lounge area with a fire pit, sports court and pool.
