McCarthy looking for players to 'jump out'
Following are the highlights of Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy's press conference on Thursday:

On moving offensive coordinator Tom Clements to coaching box:
We had staff changes on offense. Any time change you renew job descriptions. We look at dynamics of everything. If you're looking for core belief of offensive coaches on game day, the quarterback coach historically has sat with the quarterbacks on game day. When Tom had the change to coordinator last year, he had experience with the quarterbacks. My preference is for the quarterback coach to stay with the quarterback.
What do you as play caller need from coaches in the booth?
The speed of information. Only as good as your help. Accuracy and timing. It's a veteran staff. Communications are good. Players are good at communicating.
Does preseason hone your skills, too?
Yeah, I'm excited to go call a game. it's awesome to call an offensive game in the NFL. I've always enjoyed it. Looking forward to competing and giving the offense clean plays. I have to get back in the rhythm.
How will Saturday practices be different this year?
What you saw on Friday last year, now you'll see on Saturday. Any time the team takes the field and there's activity, there's a scientific approach to every one of those.
Will travel be the same?
it was important to stay on that time clock. We established that. We're traveling later to Tennessee because we're doing more in practice than we would with a 53-man roster.
What are you looking for in games?
Players to jump out. And I want to make sure our young players play the fourth quarter
Who's not making the trip?.
Seven guys: (wide receiver Jared) Abbrederis, (tackle Don) Barclay, (safety Morgan) Burnett, (tight end Colt) Lyerla, (defensive tackle Letroy) Guion, (defensive end Jerel) Worthy, (safety Tanner) Miller.
What's the timeline on Burnett?
I'm hopeful (he'll return) next week.
Is Burnett competing to keep his starting job because of Micah Hyde and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix?
I look at Morgan Burnett as a starter, but we don't just look at 11. We need as many guys as possible to be ready. We'll get playing time for Hyde and Clinton-Dix, and I'll tell you what, Sean Richardson has had a hell of a training camp.
Do you do anything to help young guys with emotions in a preseason game?
Like everything in this business, you enjoy it. Get your players in the right mind-set to compete. Certain guys, whether they've played 10 years or this is their first year, things happen to them before game. Some guys are nervous. All part of the personality of the player. Don't think people realize stress these guys go through.
What are you looking for from center JC Tretter?
Just want to see him play and improve on the things he's been working on in practice.
