On Letroy Guion:

Green Bay Packers running back Rajion Neal, left, and linebacker Joe Thomas work on tackling drills during training camp practice at Ray Nitschke Field on Monday, July 28, 2014.

I know he's getting close. He's improving. It's an injury situation. He's going through the rehab process.

On Rajion Neal:

I think so (he's farther away than first thought). I think the initial was just his excitement and wanting to play. It's going to be a couple weeks.

On Casey Hayward:

I held Casey today. Just being smart today because of his history.

On crowd noise:

We just replaced crowd noise with music. I'd say a period more a day than in the past.

Because of the Seattle opener?

It helps the defense. Anytime you stress the environment for communication it's good training for your football team.

On today's practice:

Today was an in-season Thursday practice. We'll have another one next week.

On importance of this preseason game:

I don't think it lines up like it used to as far as the full blown, this is a game plan situation. You try to push it as far as you can to a real week. I think it's the most important game still because you have to cut to 75 after this game.

On expanding the practice squad:

I think it's awesome. They can give us as many as they want to. It's an opportunity to keep your players and gives them an opportunity for an NFL job. We always talked about having 61. I'd be thrilled if it's 63.

On demeanor changing when cuts loom:
It's something you watch for everybody that touches that football. You're looking for consistency in their behavior.

On James Jones coming back:

I think James Jones, Charles Woodson, it'll be great to see those guys. They're on to a new opportunity. James Jones is the same guy every day. Tremendous work ethic. He's going to work at night when no one is here. He put a lot more into his profession than people realize. Charles Woodson was an outstanding football player for a number of years.

On letting go of Charles Woodson:
I know Ted and I sat down that day. You go back to his first year and everything that was accomplished. He was the NFL defensive player of the year. That's definitely one of the tougher ones.

On approach against Raiders:

Let's be honest, we play seven days after our first preseason game. It's really geared towards our first game. You don't want to show a whole lot. Our players have done a good job with communication. This is really the first year we've done that. We have a lot more going on. We'll be smart how we compete against Oakland, but it's still football.

On TJ Lang:

I'm told T.J. banged his shoulder didn't seem very concerned about it.
