Rookie wide receiver Davante Adams had a quiet start to training camp for a second-round draft pick, but his progressed showed Thursday night when he exploited a seam in the Kansas City defense for a 22-yard touchdown pass over the middle from Matt Flynn.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Alex Gillett (1) congratulates Davante Adams after he scored a touchdown in the first quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Adams finished with two catches for 35 yards after collecting only four receptions for 50 yards in the previous three preseason games.

"I feel ready," he said. "We've been taking steps all throughout training camp and I feel like I'm putting the pieces together and I feel like I'm ready. I feel like tonight I felt real comfortable out there so I'm ready for this next game."

Adams reached the end zone on a two-point conversion catch against St. Louis, but this was his first touchdown as a pro.

"It felt good. First real touchdown, got the 2-point against St. Louis, but first Lambeau Leap," he said, "and it was just … I had so much adrenaline, I was making sure I didn't jump up into the box seats, because I was feeling it."
