Adams leaves with knee injury; 20 Packers don't suit up
The Packers' depth took a hit Thursday night, with four players being knocked out the game and not returning.
Two of the injuries came at positions at which the Packers' depth will be tested: offensive line and defensive line.
Offensive lineman Aaron Adams left the game in the first quarter with a knee injury and didn't return. Adams had been playing right and left tackle. Already this preseason, versatile lineman Don Barclay was lost for the season with an ACL injury and starting center JC Tretter sustained a knee injury that will keep him out multiple weeks.
Near the end of the second quarter, rookie defensive lineman Khryi Thornton sustained a hamstring injury and was carted off to the locker room. He didn't return. Last week, starting nose tackle B.J. Raji was lost for the season with a torn biceps.
The outside linebacker spot also took a hit. In the second half, rookie Adrian Hubbard and second-year man Nate Palmer had to be helped off the field with knee injuries.
TWENTY DON'T SUIT UP
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and 19 others didn't suit up for the preseason finale.
The other healthy scratches included: receivers Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, running back Eddie Lacy, tackles Bryan Bulaga and David Bakhtiari, guards T.J. Lang and Josh Sitton, cornerbacks Tramon Williams and Sam Shields, safety Morgan Burnett, defensive linemen Mike Daniels and Datone Jones, and linebackers Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers and A.J. Hawk.
The Packers have four injured players who didn't play: cornerback Demetri Goodson (concussion), inside linebacker Brad Jones (quad), tight end Brandon Bostick (lower leg) and Tretter (knee).
The Packers sat nine players in last year's finale against the Chiefs. The last time they opened the regular season on a Thursday night, however, McCarthy didn't suit up 16 players.
EXTRA POINTS
-- Kicker Mason Crosby had a solid preseason finale, connecting on field goals of 29 and 42 yards. He also was successful on an array of kickoffs — some deep into the end zone, some directional toward the sideline and some with more hang time — and the Chiefs' average field position was its 22-yard line.
-- If DuJuan Harris hadn't put together a strong preseason, LaDarius Perkins might have been given more consideration for making the team after his performance Thursday. The diminutive running back had 45 yards on eight carries, including one for 22 yards, and an 11-yard touchdown catch.
-- The teams combined for 23 penalties for 212 yards. The Chiefs accounted for 14 of the penalties with six leading to Packers first downs.
