Green Bay Packers starting cornerbacks Sam Shields and Tramon Williams were held out of practice Wednesday after leaving Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins with injuries on consecutive plays in the third quarter.

Green Bay Packers cornerback Sam Shields grimaces after injuring a knee during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

With Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton coming to town this weekend, Shields (knee) and Williams (ankle) would be potentially significance absences if they're unable to play Sunday. Their status are something to watch throughout this week.

It wasn't all bad news Wednesday. Inside linebacker Jamari Lattimore (neck) returned to practice after leaving in the first half against the Dolphins. Defensive end Datone Jones (ankle) was also able to practice after being inactive in Miami.

Receiver Jarrett Boykin (groin) had his first practice in almost three weeks. Center J.C. Tretter also had his first practice of the regular season.

Tretter, currently on temporary injured reserve, won't be available to play until following the Packers bye week. His first game back would be Nov. 9 against the Chicago Bears.

Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy will speak with the media briefly following today's practice. For full updates, check back to throughout the afternoon. and follow him on Twitter @ByRyanWood
