Packers coach Mike McCarthy spoke to the media following practice Thursday. Here are some highlights of his news conference:

Injury report: Did not participate – DL Josh Boyd (knee), DL Mike Daniels (back), LB Jamari Lattimore (ankle), CB Sam Shields (concussion). Limited – T.J. Lang (ankle), G Josh Sitton (toe).

On Mike Daniels:

Held him out of practice with some back soreness. We'll see how he is tomorrow. It's a day-to-day thing.

On Sam Shields:

He's part of the concussion protocol. He has to go through that process.

On Davon House/Casey Hayward:

Davon has done a good job. They've both done a lot of good things. We have a lot of depth in our secondary.

On Falcons:

I think we have to look at the whole thing. Look how they've played the last four games. Their defense under Mike Nolan, three turnovers against Arizona. Their run defense is tough. We haven't run ball well the last three, four times we've played them. He's extremely creative. 3-4, 4-3 whatever it takes. He'll put together a challenging game plan together.

On if players are refreshed:

They better be. No, I thought practice was good today. It started a little slow. We've had a pretty productive day so far.

On receivers:

It might be their best personnel aspect of their team. Anytime you have two big targets like that, it's a big challenge.

On breaking down their last four games:

You have to take a hard look at last four, five games. There's always things you look at whole year.

On Matt Ryan:

I think Matt Ryan is an excellent quarterback. When young QBs come into the league and hit a certain level, their game slows down and understand everything. I thought Matt did that during the early part of his career.

On trying to get to 10 wins:

Veteran leadership is one of your biggest keys to your culture. There's things we go through.

On run defense:

I think since the bye week, we've improved the most with our run defense. I'm sure that'll be an emphasis. They ran the ball very well last week against Arizona.
