Crosby not worried about blocked kicks

With the Packers leading 21-14 and facing a fourth-and-6 from the Lions' 34, the Packers sent out kicker Mason Crosby to attempt a 52-yard field goal.

But the kick was blocked by Isa Abdul-Quddus, the seventh time this season the Packers' special teams have had a kick blocked. The roll call goes three field goals, two PATs and two punts.

"It was about max distance," Crosby said. "Didn't even look at it. Had to move on because there was a lot of game left. But I felt like a put a good strike on it, but felt like the guy hit the ball before it even had a chance."

Crosby insisted there are no concerns moving forward.

"Nah, it's a new season," he said. "We've got to focus on the playoffs, heighten everything, and I'm just going to keep doing my thing and make sure I'm the best version of myself and go out there and try and make every kick."

CASE FOR THE DEFENSE

The Packers held Detroit to 127 yards of offense in the critical second half. While they gave up a touchdown early and late, they also forced a fumble, forced the Lions to turn the ball over on downs, came up with a safety and denied Detroit a crucial two-point conversion attempt.

So can this much-improved unit be relied on to win a game in the playoffs if need be?

"That's for you to decide," Clay Matthews said. "To hold a very good team to 20 points, giving up a little at the end of the half and after the onside kick, we have to do better in adversity situations. But the way we've been playing as of late, I think we definitely have a defense that can hang tough make a huge run in the playoffs and hopefully to where we want to go."

Cornerback Tramon Williams was even more confident.

"We're getting better," he said. "Every time we step on the field. Obviously this is not an easy league. Teams are going to make adjustments, it's not going to be easy. But we feel we're capable of winning the game defensively if we need to."
